Quality Assurance (QA) is an ongoing process that encompasses all facets of the laboratory’s technical and non-technical functions. This includes specimen preparation, preservation and transportation of specimens, test analysis or examination, and test result reporting and interpretation. QA also extends to the laboratory interactions with patients, physicians, and other laboratories to which tests are sent. The objectives of the quality assurance program is to evaluate the effectiveness of its policies and procedures; identify and correct problems; assure the accurate, reliable and prompt reporting of test results; and assure the adequacy and competency of staff members. Meridian will pursue every opportunity to improve patient care by identifying and resolving problems.
